Subway construction is an impressive feat of technology, using giant shield machines to dig underground, but behind the scenes, consideration for the diverse living creatures and natural environment is essential. This tour explains how tunnels for Singapore’s Cross Island Line are designed and constructed, suppressing noise and vibration and protecting groundwater and the soil while creating a safe and comfortable urban transportation network.
